Aloha, I’m Melissa, the heart behind Live Aloha Photography.
For over 20 years, I have been capturing love, connection, and the beautiful spark that makes each person uniquely themselves. My passion is photographing authentic human connection—families gathered in celebration, couples deeply in love, milestones, laughter, and those fleeting candid moments that become treasured memories.
I believe every person carries a special light, and one of my gifts is seeing that light and bringing it forward through photography. Whether guiding a posed portrait or quietly capturing spontaneous joy, my goal is always the same: to create images that feel real, warm, alive, and deeply meaningful.
Living and photographing in Maui is an endless inspiration. The ocean breeze, swaying palms, golden light, and deep aloha spirit create the perfect backdrop for meaningful moments. I hold deep respect for Hawaiian culture, traditions, language, and the sacred beauty of these islands, and I strive to approach my work with gratitude and reverence.
My sessions are relaxed, fun, and heart-centered. I love helping people feel comfortable in front of the camera so their true smiles—the ones filled with love and personality—naturally shine through. From intimate family sessions and engagements to weddings, anniversaries, celebrations, and large family gatherings, I feel honored to preserve the moments that matter most.

My Approach to Photography
I blend a combination of posed shots and candid, fun moments. Whether I’m photographing a family reunion, a wedding, or a simple dinner celebration, I work to create a relaxed and natural environment, helping everyone feel at ease. I joke with my clients, making the process enjoyable and fun, while always focusing on the light that makes each person unique.
