About Me
My name is Melissa. I was born on Kauai in the late 70's and I grew up on the Big Island. I was raised outside - with my feet on the earth, close to the trees and the ocean. I love these islands and I feel lucky to call Maui my home and to be able to raise my kids here.
I moved to California to finish college and while there I put myself through school by doing photography on the weekends. I had the opportunity to work with and learn from many established professionals photographing weddings and family portraits. With several years of experience working for others already under my belt, in 2005 I opened my own photography studio in Costa Mesa. I owned and successfully operated the studio for 11 years, until, in 2016, I decided to sell my business and move back to Hawaii. I went from working full time, year round to working about three days a week with 6 or 7 vacations a year. Needless to say, this has been an amazing shift for me and for my family, and it permits me to continue to share my passion for photography in the beautiful and magical environment of Maui.
